Deparate and yellow

The grassy shot was a goofy thing, I was getting home at dusk, I lazily hadn't brought my camera with me anywhere else in the day, so walking up stairs to my house, I set the camera down and took a long exposure with grass in the foreground. I lost the beautiful blue in the sky, but the grass is nicely exposed.
The other photo, is more Reeve Oliver, I liked the yellow lighting.

Remembrance of things past

There is something about digital that makes it harder to shoot skateboarding for me, than with film. Mostly I think it was the intimate connection I had with my old equipment, the pros could hit their target a little more consistently, and i was doing it every day. It's funny to shoot skateboarding again.
There are two kids that go to the park that I like. The kid above and Austin, They both have a work ethic, they are getting better, but they always are doing it smiling. They get that joy from learning new tricks. That joy is what hooks you in. It's the same thing with surfing, that one wave keeps you coming back for months, golf, one good shot a round, anything, it just takes that little big of connection with it to make it worth coming back for.

blinking lights

It was more than a year of driving past this light almost daily before I stopped to take a photo of it. Now there are only about 100 other things in the city that I often drive by and need to shoot. Thankfully I don't drive by the bridge every day now. Every time I drove by that I wanted to take photos of it. I stopped about once a week, because it was designed so well it was just nice to be around it. I still haven't figured out how to take a good photo of it.

see, pretty isn't everything

Of course pretty is good, but in this case maybe if the boat was in focus, if it was all a little lighter without being blown out. On the other hand, I'm not usually one for "pretty" pictures so it was funny to me when I saw this setting up. Now all I need is a photo of the space needle.

Was This Your Celebrated Summer?

Highlights:
I summer where I winter at and no one is allowed.
I looked him in the face and couldn't see past his eyes.
Hardly getting over it, hardly getting used to getting by.

Joan Didion
Light

From a chair in the front room of my house, I look out onto the street, into a tree and off into the sky. Sometimes I'll be reading there and the light looks great, but if I go outside there isn't a way to frame it without showing the neighbors roof or some big pine tree that doesn't help the image or the rows and rows of electric lines (which seem really ugly to me since I grew up in a planned community in South California where they buried all those things, it really did look nicer.). But last night, I liked this bit of sky and the antenna worked in the photo.
And oh yeah, Phil, see, I really do use the longer glass on occasion.

Sharp?

How do you have a colorful look and feel without sharpness? I've always been trained that something in the photo has to be sharp, and now I'm starting to question it, and want to just prsent more color and shapes.

Never enough lightning

I watched it storm over downtown later in the day, big strikes of lighting in between turning pages in a book.
