daily photos

This is a place for me to post daily images - very few of these are final images, meaning there is almost always more work to be done. More finalized Images are here.

new and old

I shot this yesterday - while some guy was moving behind it and wondering what I was doing. I had the wrong camera.

I found this in my car, first I was surprised that Bella hadn't eaten it, second it made me smile remembering staying at hojos, because I like to stay at the classy joints.

I dread waiting; yet almost always enjoy waiting.

really

It's odd that Jesus didn't want you to forgive your enemy, or fix things with your enemy, instead just love them.
I guess it's a start.

Remember that March will be cold and snowy, I hope.

The last one of B

bonus bella photos

I think it's a bonus, but maybe you are sick of seeing photos of her, ohwell.

And this one of Bella and I; post dinner (moules mariner, salad verte avec chevre), post yoga, post Bella eating a huge bone, pre Bella barking at me, in between still not making up my mind about the bigger things on my plate, 90% though, is pretty close.

popcorn!

To look into your rear view mirror and see Mount Rainier glowing, literally glowing (who knows how or why a mountain can glow, but it certainly was), surrounded by a dusky light blue sky, to look forward to see the startlingly beautiful starting of a sunset; all in all a very settling sight. It is the very thing that makes you happy to live in this place.

But then all you get to see is a poorly executed photo of popcorn. It was a cool idea, but not quite done well.
Ohwell. But please let me assure you that air popping is the way to cook popcorn.

raised, captured, lowered

Cell phones raised and pointed at the orange slivers peeking out below the Aurora bridge. People who left home to watch the sun sink below the Olympic mountains into the Pacific ocean and and taking in the changing sky and smile. In the winter there aren’t many days that are pleasant enough to stand outside and view the setting sun, so everyone is smiling. There are a slew of people with fancy cameras sitting on tripods snapping away, couples holding hands, people walking dogs, friends sitting and talking on the grass. It's a good day sometimes and sometimes just walking through other peoples good days is good enough.

Bella in between yoga and yoga

I read the sentances below and liked them.

"At some point, yoga will become the way you live, not just a class that you take. Living yoga is not about following some dogma, doctrine or authority figure or giving up your current lifestyle. Living yoga is about awareness and integrating your mind, body and spirit so that you really experience reality as it unfolds in the present moment, instead of limiting your life to the words in your head, memories, and hopes and fears for some imagined future. Yoga is not an escape, it is really embracing life."

poem from ESL tutoring;

We were working on writing outlines for an essay, one of the kids was stuck on what he was writing about, they often group together and all seems to write about the same thing, the other day they all decided to write about pets as the most important influence on their life.
Here is one of their outlines, I like it better as a poem.

My pet
it's dead
white feathers, black eyes
my cat ate him
I throw him to the garbage.

reflections

This photo was envisioned showing three images of the coffee cup, but the reflection from the window didn't come out. I really do like the reflection of the cup in the wood like stuff on the dash, it's really the only redeeming thing about the photo. I'd complain more about it but I shot the photo driving 80 MPH going home form the pass.

"Phone Calls," —Roberto Bolaño

Amazingly good short story.

Opening scene

I feel like I should now be working on the movie that would follow this image. I can totally see the opening credits rolling over this image.

17.05 Central

6 feet of snow all packed hard and pretty useless. Damn that I-90.
Fun ride though, just disappointing because expectations always let you down.

very old

I found this photo of Josh an I the other day, and took a photo of it.
This was taken in Josh's parents garage. Leslie must have taken it, or possibly a timer exposure or even more randomly I suppose Josh's sister could have taken it, but I'd go with Leslie, Josh's then girlfriend.

This photo was in a pile of photos, I'd guess we are 17 or 18. I think Josh was trying to set up strobes to do portrait work, I remember a good photo of he and Leslie. Any way I didn't take any photos today, so here is this.

Notice the extra large t shirt I am wearing, good style.
